The canvas is lined, the paint surface is rather dirty and the varnish is very discoloured. There are some small areas of retouching in the sitter's neck, chest and wrist, on the margin, lower centre, and to a small superficial scratch in the upper left corner. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by the thick, milky varnish, but there appears to be little other intervention. In overall good condition, which would benefit greatly from cleaning.
