  • gilt bronze, on a modern ebonised wood cross 
  • bronze: 17cm., 6¾in.cross: 37cm., 14½in.

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are minor spots of tarnishing to the gilding. There are a few small nicks and scratches, including to the legs and to the chest. There are three small filled holes to the top of Christ's head. The modern cross slides into the base, which detaches. The cross and base are in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Though clearly derived from a Della Porta model, this very fine Corpus is stylistically distinct, exhibiting a slender, elongated torso and softer facial features.
