Description

  • Giltwood, mirror glass
  • 141cm. high, 83cm. wide; 4ft. 7½in., 2ft. 8¾in.
with egg-and-dart moulding, the surround carved with trailing foliage and flowers

Condition

The carving finely executed. Because the carving is so fine there are the kinds of old fractures and old restorations that one would entirely expect to such delicate work. There is a loss to the detail of the urn surmount and to the acanthus clasp of the apron and other small losses and chips to peripheral carving. One small fragment detached but extant. With a later mirror plate which has signs of age and a small scratch.
