Condition

Unexamined out of frame. The sheet appears to be adhered to a backing board at the corners and at intervals to the extreme edges and is not fully laid down. The sheet appears sound and all the elements of the collage securely adhered. There are Artist's pinholes towards the corners. The sheet undulates and the surface is uneven and textured, in keeping with the Artist's working methods. There is a fleck of loss towards the lower edge at centre, in the yellow and white, with a few further more minor instances to the extreme lower, left and right edges. There are a small number of isolated individual fine lines of cracking. There are a few instances of staining along the lower edge. There is some light surface dirt and a few instances of studio detritus in the paint surface. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a few spots and ares of fluorescence, some of which may be retouching and same may have been executed by the Artist in his studio. The work is held behind glass in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
