Condition
Painted on a thick panel which appears to be made up of one piece of wood. It is uncradled but has a horizontal batten affixed to the reverse which runs across the center of the panel. The panel is very slightly bowed from side to side. Surface is clean and the painting is presentable. The paint surface has been very well retained and there is very good detail throughout. One very small vertical crack can be see at bottom right. Under UV light: there are small retouches scattered here and there throughout. On the figure, these are on face (some along the vertical wood grain), beard, and costume, with a bit more concentrated on the shadowed area at top of shoulder. These retouches have been well applied and there is no need for further work. Painting can be hung as is and presents a strong and striking image.
