Condition

The canvas is original. There are a number of very fine, stable cracks throughout the paint surface, most visible in the central green section, consistent with a push from the stretcher bar. There are one or two pinhole sized losses to the right of the green section in the upper third of the canvas. There are scattered spots of discolouration to the green pigment in the central section. There are some light scuffs to the extreme edges, with a small number of further light scuffs, and some very light areas of rubbing. There is some studio matter throughout with spots of surface dirt scattered across the composition. Subject to the above the work appears to be in overall good condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a 10cm. vertical area of retouching towards the upper edge in the centre, with some further spots at the centre of the extreme right edge. The work is unframed. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
