Condition

This work on canvas is still on its original stretcher. It appears to be unlined, although the edges have been covered with paper tape. The non-original varnish is scuffed above the signature and in the lower right quadrant. The retouches do not show clearly under ultraviolet light, but are visible to the naked eye in the upper right corner, in spots along the top edge, broadly along the left edge, and across the bottom edge. The condition is better within the picture proper. There are isolated retouches, including a group in and around the inscription "CAFE RE" in the upper right. The work could be hung as is.
