The work is in very good condition overall. The canvas is unlined. The surface is richly textured. There are some scattered areas of craquelure. The surface is varnished. There are a few scattered pindot holes, likely from a previous tacking edge. Under UV light, there are some uneven layers of varnish visible in the hair of the sitter on the right, but no inpainting is apparent.
