Condition
The canvas is not lined. The upper and lower edges of the canvas have been cut and have been glued and pinned to the face edge of the stretcher. There is a 20cm. fine split to the canvas running form the extreme upper left, all of which is not visible when framed. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching along the upper lower and right edges and scattered further spots of in-painting are visible in places, notably to the river towards the centre of the left edge and to the trees to the right of the centre. There is some frame abrasion visible to all four edges with small associated spots of pigment loss and two further tiny spots of pigment loss towards the lower left corner. The work is in overall fairly good condition.
