Condition
Executed on cream wove paper and not laid down. There is a scuff towards the upper part of the right edge and a few dirt marks in places to the sheet, possibly original. There is mount staining to the verso and the sheet appears to be slightly time stained. Otherwise this work is in very good overall condition.

Catalogue Note
Dorry Hawinkels was a Dutch émigré who lived in Paris on the fashionable Avenue de l’Opéra and found fame as one of the early models of Christian Dior. Dorry lived with American photographer, Richard de Grab, whom she sometimes accompanied on his shoots for articles and art books; it was during these occasions where she met many of the most renowned artists of the time, including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, René Magritte and Oscar Kokoschka. She was bright and charming and over the course of the early 1960s, Dorry acquired a wonderful collection of sketches which the artists gave her as mementos of their days together. The present example is one example from the collection that Dorry lovingly assembled.
