Condition
The canvas is unlined. There are some scattered pindot losses in the border of the rug in the bottom left quadrant and the bottom center and a few minor losses in the baby's white clothing. There is some very minor paint shrinkage in the dark red and dark blue pigments toward the top center. There is some paint shrinkage in the light brown background and upper left and upper right. The canvas has been unevenly varnished, and there are some scattered accretions of wax on the painting's surface in the lower left and lower right. The painting would benefit from a cleaning. Under UV light, some original pigments fluoresce but no inpainting is apparent. The work is in generally good condition.
