Condition

In overall good condition. Usual dents and scratches. Fully marked under the base with assay scratch. Assay scratch under the handle. It is possible that there was formerly a long wood handle now replaced by a silver element. A small restauration on the top near the handle. Nice and unusual piece. Large size.

Catalogue Note

The armorials are those of Bovio, Rome and Bologne. This piece has been realised for Giulio Bovio, Knight of the Maltese Order, nephew of another Giulio Bovio Commander of San Giovanni di Tortona and Orvieto, Grand-Prieur of England, Secretary of the Maltese Order Treasury who has been burried in Saint-Jean cathedral, in la Valette, where his cenotaph still can be seen.
