The movement and all chronograph functions are in working condition at the time of cataloguing, the calendar functions are working properly. The dial with tiny spotting at places, particularly toward the center at at 2 o'clock, some luminous materials to the indexes with loss, but overall it has taken a nice uniform color among with the hands. The minute register has taken a very attractive light tropical color but with some minor loss from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock. The bezel with signs of wear and tiny pinhead dings throughout. The band with minor surface wear at 9 o'clock and to the lugs. Underneath the lugs with minor surface wear from removing the bracelet. The case back with tiny pinhead dings and surface wear throughout. Inside case back is stamped "6262". The bracelet is slightly stretched and with very minor signs of wear, the folding clasp is stamped "1.70". * Please note that the movement has not tested for the accuracy of time and may need service at the buyer's expense. The ‘Paul Newman’ has become one of the most fashionable wristwatches among Rolex collectors today. The unusual dial layout with ‘matchstick’ registers is very recognizable.

The Paul Newman reference 6265 generally features either a white or black dial. Those fitted with a white dial and black subsidiary registers, such as the present watch, are given the name ‘Panda’, due to its color scheme.

The ‘Paul Newman’ Cosmograph Daytona has been through subtle changes during its time in production. The present watch, featuring a desirable Mk 2 dial, displays sharp serifs to the ‘Oyster Cosmograph’ graphics. Watches fitted with a Mk 1 dial do not feature serifs to the ‘Oyster Cosmograph’ graphics. This wristwatch also features its original pushers, which is correct when one considers the serial number. The dial has been preserved in very honest and original condition and the outer track has aged to a warm 'tropical' tone throughout, displaying a nice brown chocolate colour.

The case is wonderful, with sharp edges and milled finish. The watch furthermore retains its period bracelet, stamped for the first quarter of 1970.
