Catalogue Note
The present watch is a reference 1675 that features a gilt dial with a small GMT hand and a chapter ring on a thin case with pointed crown guards. This reference was introduced in 1959 after replacing the original reference 6542 in 1954 and has been in Rolex production until 1980. Although the reference 1675 had a very long run, there were many changes and variations made for this reference by Rolex. For instance the present watch is very rare as its configuration has only been in its production for approximately of 4 years, from 1959 to1963. Also the original gilt dial had faded to a nice brown color due to the exposure to the sun and other various forms of light. The tiny variations of the watch and the imperfection in the finishing of dials are minute details which Rolex connoisseurs desire to own.
