Description

  • pair of micro-mosaic panels ; in giltwood frames

  • 34 x 41,5 cm. (the frame); 13 1/3 by 16 1/ in.

Condition

Very good condition overall with minor surface dirt, consistent with age and handling. The black marble margins with minor scratches along the frames. The marble margin slightly disjointed to lower right angle. Minor chips are visible along the edges of the gilt-wood frames with small losses at some places and a longer on to the upper moulded edge of one frame.

Catalogue Note

The Temple of Vesta is depicted from the Piazza Bocca della Verità, with the Tritons Fountain designed by Carlo Francesco Bizzaccheri (1656-1721). The second view of the Forum shows the ruins of the Temple of Saturn and the Septimus Severus Arch.
