Overall in very good original condition. When viewed in person, the verre eglomise panel radiates with a golden and rich reflective qualities, the gilding with an additional texture and depth not conveyed in the catalogue illustration. The glass surfaces with very minor faint isolated scratches visible on close inspection. The upper proper left corner with a minor loss measuring approximately 1 1/8 in, visible in the catalogue illustration. The bottom proper left and right corners with minor losses measuring approximately 1/4 x 1 in. and 3/4 x 1/4 in. respectively. The bottom edge near the proper right with a minor flake loss to the glass and silvered surface.. The bottom right proper edge with very minor flaking to the silvered surface. Overall in our opinion these issues do not adversely affect the overall attractive appearance of the panel and are commonly found in these panels from the Normandie. The panel retains its original cloth backing. An excellent example with fine detailing from this important nautical commission that presents very well as a stand-alone work.
