Condition

Overall very good condition. The favrile glass “Lily” shades are a well-assembled harmonious set, displaying subtle variations in form and coloration. The shades are in very good condition, each with scattered minor air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not visually detractive. Each shade with some expected occasional fleabites around the upper aperture, not visible when the shades are installed. Some of the shades with light surface scratches and rubbing to the top interior from continued surface contact over time with the interior sockets. The exterior of the shades are beautifully iridized, and when viewed with reflected light display a strong range of brilliant jewel-tone hues. One shade with a small area of clear dried adhesive residue measuring approximately 1 x 1 ½ inches, not visually detractive. The base is beautifully cast and is in very good overall condition with some surface soiling to the recessed portions of the design and with some scattered minor discolorations consistent with age. One socket fitter with a petal which was possibly stabilized at some point in the history of the piece. Another socket fitter with two petals which appear to have been slightly over-bent at some point in the history of the piece, stable. All sockets and the base switch appear original and undisturbed. A beautiful example of this iconic lamp design by Tiffany Studios.
