Description
- 38.5 cm, 15 1/4 in.
heavily potted and with steep sides, decorated to the exterior with a bird perched on branches of wisteria and flowers, inscribed in iron-red below the rim with the Dayazhai mark surrounded by two confronting dragons within an oval panel reserved in white, all against a thick yellow-enamelled ground
Provenance
Collection of Gustav Detring (1842-1913) and/or Constantin von Hanneken (1854-1925), and thence by descent.
Condition
The jardinière is in good condition with the exception of crazing and heavy scratches to the rim, a 1cm., diam., area of misfiring to the yellow ground and a tiny flake to the yellow ground, a circa 10cm., length of chipping to the inner edge of the footring, light scratches around the body.
