Description

  • 32 cm, 12 1/2  in.
heavily cast with slightly spreading sides flaring towards the base and surmounted by a pair of addorsed dragons, modelled with powerful extended front claws and open mouths revealing pointed fangs, the body cast in relief with two horizontal bands enclosing rectangular panels divided by vertical flanges, inscribed to the lower band with the nine-character inscription Chenghua shisi nian wuyue jiri (The auspicious day during the fourteenth year and fifth month of Chenghua), the opposite side inscribed with Shen Zhangzhi zhi feng (installed and dedicated by Zhangzhi), the metal patinated to a dark grey

Condition

This bell is in good condition, with the exception of minor casting flaws and dents/losses to the extremities, in particularly to the horn and and the fins of the dragon.
