Description

  • 10.3 cm, 4 in.
the deep rounded sides rising from a short slightly spreading foot to an everted rim, finely incised and green enamelled around the exterior with two scaly dragons in pursuit of a flaming pearl, all beneath a classic scroll band at the rim and reserved on a rich egg-yolk yellow ground, the interior with a medallion enclosing a shou character, the base with six-character mark in underglaze blue

Purchased in China in the 1920s.

Condition

This bowl is in fair condition with the exception of a small restored rim chip (approx.. 0.5 cm), and rim hairline cracks (approx. 3.5 and 1.5 cm each). Firing imperfections include minute burst bubbles and iron spots in various areas.
