the ruyi-shaped terminal surmounted by a bat deftly worked in high relief with its wings outstretched, above a beribboned musical chime (qing) suspending a double lozenge atop a pair of entwined catfish, the curved shaft inscribed with four seal characters reading Jixiang ruyi ('auspicious as you wish'), its pointed end decorated with a bat grasping a spray of nandina berries, the concave reverse with clusters of scrolling clouds, the stone of an even pale celadon tone

Condition

The sceptre is in overall good condtion. There are typical minute flakes to the fragile extremities, with tiny sections possibly lightly polished.
