Description

A one-sided prooflike specimen, the reverse deeply so, with full cameo contrast; the surfaces highlight the scattered scuffs; the obverse with a rich, more satin-like lustre, and some light marks. Both the obverse and reverse with peripheral toning and overall a very pale golden tone. The prooflike character of the coin’s reverse is consistent with Wayne Miller’s observations about 1887-S specimens from the mid-1970s Redfield hoard.

Certificate Number: 281404-008 (NGC 5 holder). NGC records only eleven finer (a single MS 67 the finest). CAC has certified only ten (MS 66) finer. (02-18)
