Description

  • An enamel snuff box with silver-gilt mounts, circa 1740
  • silver-gilt, metal, enamel
  • 6.7cm., 2 5/8 in wide.; 8.8cm., 3 1/2 in. wide
of cartouche form, decorated in raised gilding and translucent enamels on a dark blue ground, the lid, with shepherds, the base with a putto, the mounts with illegible Paris discharge mark; and a double-opening enamel snuff box, rectangular with shaped sides, decorated with raised gold paillons with Venus, putti and garlands on a turquoise ground, the interior of the lid painted in crimson camaïeu with lovers, reeded gilt-metal mounts

Condition

1. minor chips and cracks on the side, some losses to translucent enamel particularly on the front. 2. very good condition
