Condition
Lined. The surface is clean and is in good condition overall. There is minor buckling of the canvas at the upper center edge. There is barely perceptible, stable craquelure on the picture surface. Under UV: thick, unevenly applied varnish fluoresces green, though some retouching is visible. There are a few finely painted, small areas on the chess board, underneath the woman in red's proper right hand, above and below the woman in white's foot, and above the white vase; a few additional lines in the mirror and the right wall panel; and a few isolated spots and pinpoint dots on the floor.
