Description
- After Adriaen Jansz. van Ostade
- Portrait of an old man, bust length
- oil on canvas, laid on panel
- 4 by 3 3/8 in.; 10.2 by 8.6 cm.
Condition
The canvas is laid down on a panel that has all four edges beveled and a slight vertical bow. Overall, there is some slight thinness to the paint surface, but the image reads well. Inspection under UV light shows some thinly applied lines of retouches concentrated on the hat and gown of the sitter, especially along the bottom edge. A few very small spots of retouches are scattered on the background. Painting is offered in a wood frame with a gold liner.
