Description
- Portrait of a gentleman, bust length, wearing a white ruff
- oil on panel
- 13 1/2 by 11 in.; 34.3 by 27.9 cm.
Condition
This panel is uncradled, stable, and comprised of two boards with a vertical join that runs through the center of the sitter's face, from top to bottom. Overall the painting presents a strong image with some minor thinness to the paint, especially on the darker colors. The aforementioned join fluoresces under UV light, and appears to have a small area of retouching to the sitter's forehead. Some smaller spots of retouches are scattered on the sitter's face, to the right, and a on the white ruff. Painting is stable and could be hung in its present condition. It is offered in an elaborately carved, gilded frame.
