SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND BRACELET, CARTIER, 1937

Description

Designed as three articulated lines of graduated step-cut sapphires spaced by two geometric motifs set with circular-cut, marquise-shaped, baguette and square diamonds, one concealing a clasp, length approximately 160mm, unsigned, numbered, fitted case stamped Cartier.

Condition

Accompanied by a facsimile of a certificate of authenticity from Cartier, dated 11 June 2003, no. GE2001-631, stating that the bracelet is by Cartier London, 1937. Bracelet unsigned, numbered with Cartier authentication number HSA1761 to clasp. A random selection of the sapphires was randomly tested by GCS laboratory in London, and the tested sapphires were found to be of Basaltic origin, with no indications of heat treatment. This was a verbal report, and no certificate was issued. Largest and smallest sapphires measuring approximately 9.3 x 6.9 x 4.7mm and 4.9 x 4.5 x 2.8mm, calculated to weigh approximately 3.09 and 0.6 carats respectively. Estimated total carat weight of sapphires approximately 77.00 carats. Sapphires deep blue, transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some visible to the naked eye, some surface-reaching. Some sapphires with areas of minor chipping and wear to facet edges. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 4.40 - 5.50 carats. Bracelet width approximately 25mm at widest point. Gross weight approximately 64.3 grams. Links well articulated, clasp closing securely. Scratches to metal and stone surfaces consistent with wear. Fitted case stamped Cartier. In good condition.
