EMERALD AND DIAMOND BROOCH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, COMPOSITE

Designed as an orchid, the centre set with an octagonal emerald and two step-cut emeralds, the petals set with circular-cut, cushion-shaped and rose diamonds, one diamond deficient, later brooch pin and emerald centre.

Emeralds light green with typical inclusions visible to the naked eye, some surface-reaching, some areas of chipping and wear to facet edges. Principal emerald measuring approximately 9.2 x 9.2 x 4.7mm, calculated to weigh approximately 2.80 carats. Largest diamond measuring approximately 6.7 x 6.4 x 4.0mm, calculated to weigh approximately 1.00 carat. Remaining diamonds bright and lively, estimated total remaining diamond weight approximately 8.50 - 10.50 carats, mixed colours and clarities. Some glue residue can be seen on several diamonds. Pin in good order. In good condition consistent with age and wear. Overall measurements approximately 7.6 x 6.5mm. Gross weight approximately 31.1 grams.
