-Signs of abrasion and paper losses can be found mainly in the upper section of the painting, which have been improved by restoration. Generally in fairly good condition.

註：民國初年，鄭午昌就讀杭州府中學，與居湖上之陸蘅倩以藝相知，彼此皆擅詩畫，互餽作品，如陸氏寫梅相贈，午昌報以美人，兩人情重意真，見於作品。無奈佳人早殞，天人永隔。畫家日後寫梅繪柳，偶憶故人，題款及之，嘗悲歎「安得情魂雅結，化為連理，相映山林」，思念數十載不渝。鄭氏以山水稱擅，人物或作點景，偶有為之，多仿古如唐人仕女面貌，本幅則取改七薌清人之法，用筆纖細，敷色淡雅，見陸氏閨中握管尋吟覓句之情態。跋中摯情流露，滿紙懷人悼亡之意，亦屬畫家筆下僅見者。

一九二八年冬，〈秋英會第一次書畫金石展覽會〉假上海寧波同鄉會舉行，據是年十一月十日〈申報〉載俞劍華〈秋英先參記〉，展品中「余尤愛午昌之〈雙柳簃圖〉，所畫美女清秀絕倫」，所指或即本幅。
