註：本幅以「聖殤」為題，畫中見十字架一角，瑪利亞緊抱剛卸下之耶穌，其雙目緊閉，軀體手垂無力，瑪利亞依偎在懷。畫中手法較寫實，人物間之關係、情感頓現，用色冷峻，調子沉晦，凸顯情境中之悲劇色彩。林風眠以基督入畫者，偶見於早年至晚期作品中，此無涉宗教信仰，卻攸關其悲天憫人之人道主義精神，與基督救贖之旨意相通。畫中處理手法，類近其歐洲習畫後之早期創作風格，仍未見與國畫調和融合之痕迹，若與原藏者駐華之經歷，本幅似為三十年代中期前之作。
