showing the seated, elderly composer with three pupils, identified on the verso as Franz Servais, Juliusz Zarebski and his wife Johanna Wenzel, with separate dedication to Monsieur P. Litta by Auguste Müsch on verso 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches, by Ganz of Brussels, some dusting and staining, two puncture holes on mount, [1881]

This celebrated photograph was taken in 1881 on Liszt’s visit to Brussels, where he was feted by his former pupils Servais (1846-1901), at one time believed to be the composer’s illegitimate son and Julius and Johanna Zarebski.
