Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges, most notably a 4-inch horizontal abrasion in the lower left corner. Under raking light, scattered, isolated areas of hairline craquelure and hairline cracks are visible, and some unobtrusive, pinpoint spot accretions are visible. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.

Catalogue Note
"The front of [Coenties] 25 was covered with words that influenced me in my work every day...the brass stencils I found in the loft—numbers, names of boats, and companies from the nineteenth century—became the matrices and materials for my work, and especially for my painting."
