Kota-Ndassa reliquary figure, Gabon

Provenance

Condition

Very good condition overall. Minor scratches, abrasions, nicks and wear throughout consistent with age and use within the culture. As visible within the catalogue illustration, the metal plating is very well preserved, without any lifting, except a crack and some lifting down the centre of the semi-circular topmost part of the coiffure, and the metal has experienced some dulling. Minor insect damage to the very bottom of the wooden part and some wear to the wood at the reverse. Fine, deep encrusted patina to the wood base and reverse of the figure.
