Description

  • 31 by 27 by 20 cm.
from the right end corner of a strigillated sarcophagus, carved with the figure of a philosopher standing before a curtain (parapetasma) and grasping the folds of his mantle falling from his left shoulder, the side carved in low relief with an unidentifed motif; no restorations.

Provenance

French private collection, acquired in the 1960s, said to have been found in Lyon
acquired by the present owner on the Paris art market
