Condition

The canvas has not been lined. There is some scattered hairline craquelure, only visible upon close inspection, and a faint stretcher bar mark corresponding to the horizontal stretcher member is also visible. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals small clusters of cosmetic retouching in the upper left corner, in the background and in the hair of the female figure, possibly addressing old flaking. Otherwise, this work is overall in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a gilt frame.
