Condition
The canvas has been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals extensive areas of uneven fluorescence in the sky which appear to be associated with some previous selective cleaning rather than with retouching. A circa 2 by 10cm area of retouching is visible in the sky in the upper left quadrant, possibly addressing an old tear, and a circa 5 by 5cm area of restoration is visible above the windmill. Scattered small spots of cosmetic retouching are also visible in the windmill, and fine in-painting addressing craquelure is visible in the lower left quadrant. It should be noted the aforementioned retouchings do not affect the appearance of this work, which is good. This work is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
