(Summer landscape) The canvas has not been lined and appears to be on its original stretcher. The canvas is somewhat undulated in the lower half. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure throughout, mainly visible in the sky, and some fine rubbing is visible along the upper framing edge. Ultra-violet light reveals an even layer of residual varnish and some small scattered spots of cosmetic retouching in the upper framing edge addressing rubbing. Overall, this work is in good condition and ready to hang. (winter landscape) The canvas has been lined. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure throughout and one very small spot of paint loss in the sky in the upper left quadrant which might benefit from consolidation. Ultra-violet light reveals an even layer of residual varnish, some thin strokes of retouching in the sky towards the centre of the composition (these have somewhat discoloured in time and are also visible to the naked eye upon close inspection) and one small spot of retouching in the bridge in the lower half of the composition. Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition. Both presented in decorative gilt frames.
