Purchased from the above by the present owner in circa 2007

Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. There is some hairline craquelure visible notably in the sky. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some minor, scattered lines of in-painting in the aforementioned craquelure and some small spots of cosmetic retouching in the centre of the extreme left framing edge. It should be noted these have all been finely applied and are not visible to the naked eye. The main composition appears to be virtually untouched. Overall, this work is in good condition and is ready to hang. Presented in a Paul Gehring decorative gilt frame with a white inner slip. Colours are somewhat warmer than in the catalogue illustration.
