Literature

Esbjørn Hiort, Finn Juhl: Furniture, Architecture, Applied Art, Copenhagen, 1990, pp. 22 (cabinet with brass pulls), 61 (cabinet with wooden pulls)

Condition

Overall very good condition, consistent with age. The lot consists of 5 wooden wall panels and 1 rattan wall panel, 8 shelves plus one deeper shelf and one angled shelf, one open cabinet with sliding glass doors, 2 wide cabinets with siding doors and 2 cabinets with brass pulls, one glass shelf, along with associated assembling hardware. Please note this unit is modular and a combination of 2 different styles, both executed by Juhl in the 50s. Visible by noting the 2 types of handles (brass and non-brass). The two cabinet with brass pulls are slightly light in hue than the rest of the unit. The far left illustrated cabinet with four vertical compartments, the far right illustrated cabinet with four sets of four siding drawers (8 on each side). All wood surfaces present with minor nicks, faint and scattered scratches and minor evidence of wear, all consistent with age. A few minor areas of variation in tone due to sun exposure, most noticeable on the canted shelf and on the right side of the far left cabinet. The low cabinet with brass pulls with a small loss to the front drawer and visible in the catalogue illustration. The rattan wall in very good condition with no obvious tears or losses. The glass shelf with silicone adhesive for extra support on the bracket edges. The glass of the two sliding doors on the upper cabinet with a small (1/4 in) conchoidal chip to the edge and the lower glass shelf with a few minor chips where it meets the brass bracket, none of which are visually obvious. Overall an impressive unit that is scarce in this entirety, presenting very well overall.
