Condition

Original canvas, the canvas undulates slightly in places but otherwise appears sound. There are some lines of craquelure in places, primarily to the ochre pigment of the background, with some further lines of craquelure to the flowers in places. There is some extremely minor associated lifting to the purple flower at the back of the composition. There are a couple of small, old losses to the purple flower at the back of the composition. There is some general surface dirt in places. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of fluorescence to the ochre pigment which in keeping with the varnish.
