This drawing is in good condition and does not appear to have been laid-down. There are very small restorations in the corners which appear to have been made to artist's pin-holes. The paper is very slightly discoloured and cockles very slightly but this is only visible upon close inspection. The drawing is ready to be hung. FRAME The drawing is contained in a simple gilt frame with a clean mount (eggshell blue) and under glass.

This is a study for the oil painting Sleeping Nude painted c.1942 (Bonham's, 30 May 2012, lot 28). Two less finished sketches for the same painting are known (Phillips, 3 December 2001, lot 47 and Bonham's, 30 May 2012, lot 27). Another drawing of the same model, in a standing position is dated 1942 (Christie's, London, 21 November 1995, lot 222).
