  • bronze, on a wood and gilt metal base
  • Northern Italian, 16th century
with a coat of arms inscribed: F C / F

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are several small lacunae throughout, consistent with casting. There is wear to the patina throughout, including flaking. There is minor oxidation, and greening in areas. There are several minor nicks and scratches. There is wear to the wood base, including chips, stable splitting, and evidence of past worming. There are some losses to the gilding of the metal bands around the base.
