Condition

Overall, the condition of the cast iron is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few minor original casting flaws, including to the Virgin's proper left finger and to her chest between the clavicles. There is minor flaking to the patina in areas. There is some dark spotting, including to the faces. The modern base is in good condition, with minor chips and scratches to the edges and corners. There is minor evidence of past worming.
