Literature

Condition
The canvas has been lined, the paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is clear and even. Much of the impasto brushwork is fairly well-preserved. Inspection under ultraviolet light is impeded by an opaque, milky varnish but reveals very little intervention, save for an area of retouching measuring approx. 3 x 4cm. on the right-hand side, just above the sitter's shoulder. In overall very good condition.
