Catalogue Note
Morison & Co. were amongst the very best Scottish cabinet-makers working in the 19th and early 20th century. Their most complete commission was for Lauriston Castle to the west of the city of Edinburgh. The present suite closely relate to a suite of eighteen formerly in the collection of Sir David Hunter Blair 3rd Bt. at Blairquhan, Ayrshire. A bill from Morison and Co. dated 1820-23 is in the archives at Blairquhan. (Sold, Christie's, 24 May 2007, lot 51)
