Condition
The painting has been recently cleaned, lined and restored. The shiny new varnish impedes assessment under ultra violet light. There appears to be two campaigns of restoration. The most recent appears to be confined to minor retouchings round nose, ear and ruff, but an older series of repairs, for example to the tunic and background, should also be allowed for. Some of the shadows and dark tones have been a little worn. In overall good condition.
Offered in a later gilt wood gallery frame in good condition.
