- Four fans, probably French, 19th century - 20th century
- ivory, mother of pearl, tortoiseshell
the first, with gilded wood sticks and guards, the gauze leaf applied with spangles, pencils hanging from the suspension loop, 24.3cm., 9 5/8 in.; the second, with silk leaf and ivory sticks painted with eglantine, with pencilled inscriptions, dated 1882, 32.5cm., 12 3/4 in.; the third, with mother of pearl sticks, cream silk and lace leaf, 27.2cm., 10 3/4 in. , cardboard case; the last, with simulated tortoiseshell mounts and ostrich feathers, 42.5cm., 16 3/4 in., in an associated red leather box stamped with George V cipher and Royal crown
Condition
1. some spangles missing, leaf detached, some wear to gilding. good order overall.
2. some wear to silk leaf especially at back where it is damaged, wear to painting.
