Description

  • mahogany
the moulded and carved over scrolled shaped backs centred by an inset reserve painted with the crest of Forbes of Pitsligo, the moulded seats over turned tapering front legs

Provenance

Probably Sir William Forbes, 7th Bt. (1773-1828)

Condition

A smart set that is generally in good order. These chairs appear to be repolished. Old marks and scratches consistent with age and use. One leg with a repaired break. The seats re-blocked. Further research may reveal them to be Scottish, as there are similarities with Regency seat furniture produced in there.
