A l'oeil nu, le tableau se présente dans un état de conservation relativement satisfaisant. Il est peint sur un panneau de chêne constitué de quatre planches horizontales, non parquetées. On voit une fente horizontale et quelques petits manques le long de cette fente au niveau de la dernière jonction de la planche, traversant le vêtement du Christ. Il est sous un vernis encrassé, ancien.
A la lampe UV : le panneau est sous un vernis vert uniforme, on constate de légères reprises dans le visage du christ et dans celui de la femme adultère.
To the naked eye, the painting is in a reasonably good overall condition. It is painted on an oak tree panel made of four horizontal uncraddled boards We can see an horizontal crack in the junction of the last two boards and few little lacks of painting along this crack, restored with few little retouches. It is under an old dirty varnish
Under the UV light : the panel is under a green uniform varnish, we can see some retouches in the face of the Christ and the adultery woman.
