Condition
A l'oeil nu :
To the naked eye :
The painting appears in a reasonable condition.
It is painted on an oak panel made of a non-cradled plank. The panel is perfectly flat and we can only notice a few little uplifts on the bottom left corner.
The varnish is ancient and a little too matt.
We notice a very minor loss on the right.
We can observe the preparatory drawing at some points.
Under U.V. light :
Partially cleaned green varnish on the Vierge face.
We notice a few restorations in the Vierge neck and in the back and the arm of the child.

Catalogue Note
This panel has been attributed to several artists in the past. Dr. Max J. Friedlander suggested that it could be by the Meister der Papagei, but art historian Georges Marlier published in 1966 this panel as a painting by the artist "Pierre Coeck".
